21 Oct 2015

October 16th 2015 our school participated in the first ever Enlightenment Day. Our school travelled to various locations around the Liverpool Plains Shire to experience what our area has to offer.
9 buses transported students to the following locations – Werris Creek Coal Mine, Wallabadah Memorial First Fleet Gardens, Willow Tree Information Centre and Pine Ridge. All students were able to listen to facilitators inform them on the area and show them interesting facts regarding the sites.
At Pine Ridge students participated in a Smoking Ceremony performed by the Gomeroi Dance Company this experience was a very powerful movement and everyone enjoyed it. Students also were able to watch the Gomeroi Dance Company perform dances and listen to stories past down from generations. Staff and students also participated in some dances.
Everyone enjoyed this learning experience. Thank you to everyone who supported the day.
We look forward to planning another Enlightenment Day for next year.
