How amazing are our teachers and students at QHS!
Year 7 Literacy H students had a terrific time in their cross-curricular class.
Run by Ms Braithwaite and Ms Bayliss the class is a fusion of Art and Literacy, aimed at developing students understanding of and passion for the key learning areas of Literacy and Numeracy.
"Students have undertaken writing about their ‘First day at Quirindi High School' and have moved on to creating story boards based on their short story," said Ms Braithwaite.
Today, through the Visible Learning process, students were shown how Story Boards were used in the making of the movie The Lion King. Where each scene is sketched with a description written underneath.
"The entire class worked through the process of what a story board is and how it helps writers, directs, designers and actors stay on target with the central story of their movie," said Ms Bayliss, who continued the process not only helps students develop their literacy skills it also assists them in engaging with their storytelling and using their numeracy skills for each scene.
From here, students, who have written their 350-word story, undertaken the completion of their story board will utilise stop animation to bring their movies to life.
"One of the unexpected outcomes of the project has been hearing the students comment on how much more comfortable they feel at the High School compared to their nerves on the first day," concluded Ms Braithwaite.
We can't wait to hear and see more about your learning Year 7 H.
