WELLBEING WEEK

QHS today kicked off a fantastic three days of wellbeing at the school with a series of workshops, activities and Guest Speakers.

Former QHS student, and ‘World Champion Kickboxer’, Ben Burrage presented to students on – his life experiences, sports career, travel and resilience.

Ben spoke on the effects of some bad choices in his life, and how he moved on to making the right choices.

“When I was younger, I was angry, hanging around with the wrong people and making some wrong choices before I picked myself up,” said Ben, who, along with partner Sam Barnett, also ran a series of self-defence classes at the school today.

“You are who you hang around! I made the choice to pick myself up, I found something that gave me a positive way to release anger and learn new skills - Martial Arts was the vehicle for me,” he continued.

Ben, who along with Sam runs the gym and business ‘Tamworth Fighting Arts’ said he once he found the right path, he saved hard through his sport and became driven to achieve his dreams.

“Self-defence is great for body and for mind. Technique is everything and through my sport, I learnt the right way of being,” said Ben.

Students have been really engaged in Ben and Sam’s workshops and QHS would like to thank them for attending today.

Thank you to QHS Head Teacher, Wellbeing, Mrs Liz Saunders for coordinating ‘Wellbeing Wek’ At QHS.
