QHS Year 11, VET Metals and Engineering students have completed a fantastic secure lockup storage area at the school.
The five students, who will obtain their Cert 1 in Metals at the end of 2012 completed the project as part of their ‘Right Tools – Right Job’ assessment.
“Students used cutting tools, marking out tools, welding equipment and Trade Maths Skills. They undertook the design, self-evaluation and trial phases of the project before the final construct and installation,” said Technology and Applied Sciences Teacher, Mr Miggins.
The overall project will be presented to Public Schools NSW, Tamworth as part of their VET.
“Students worked well as a team and are heading into machining, lathe work and metal working next. I am really proud of the work they’ve done and what they’ve achieved,” concluded Mr Miggins.
Congratulations students: Bailey Swain- who is currently undertaking a School Based Traineeship, with Gowings Toyota, Josh Gallagher – who aims to become an electrician, Martin Walters – who wants to become a Boiler-Maker, Jonathan Hodges – who aims to work in the automotive and small machine industry and Luke Power – who wants to work in Primary Industries.
