PRE AND POST TESTING FOR YEARS 7-10
Students in years 7 to 10 will be involved in Pre and Post Testing for each current unit of work.
Students will complete a pretest on the Strand to be studied and this will indicate the current student knowledge on a topic and will allow staff to identify the needs of all students in reference to the skills of the strand.
The task will be returned and it is expected that the pretest be completed as the skills are taught in class and they will then be expected to work on the questions as part of their homework for the topic.
The pretest will be due on the day of the Post test for the unit of work and it is expected that students persist with questions and seek feedback from their class teachers to complete the pretest for each unit of work.
Homework
Homework will include completing the pretest corrections for submission on the day of the post-test for each unit and any incomplete tasks from class.
Textbooks
Students will have access to the textbook at home in their google classrooms or USB.
If computer or internet access is not available please inform your child’s class teacher so they may borrow a textbook.
Summary Books
Summary books will be required to be completed for each Assessment Task and students will need to revise the topics listed on the Assessment Notifications.
They will be given a lesson in class at the conclusion of a unit to start each topic and it is expected that the summary book be completed at home ready for each assessment submission.
The book will be marked and returned for the next assessment task and all units of work are to be summarised in the same book for the year.
This information is a brief overview of the structure for Mathematics classes this year.
Further information regarding assessment and tasks will be given on the students Assessment Notification which will be distributed two weeks prior to the task.
If you would like further information please contact your student’s class teacher on the email above or myself.
