GEOGRAPHY FIELD TRIP

school

QHS students accompanied by Mrs Craswell and Mr Saunders, went to Sheba Dam and Nundle State Forest to explore how landscapes change and the impact of humans on nature.

Students witnessed the impacts of logging on habitats, how man-made dams’ impact on our water supply and they also explored different types of bushland.

Highlights of the trip included bushwalking (“ewww… leeches”), visiting a historic cemetery and campfire cooking - where students cooked damper on sticks, corn on the cob, sausages and marshmallows.

QHS student, Brett Seymour loved basking in nature… “because it was calming.”

Other students enjoyed the bush walk and sitting around a campfire.

Mrs Craswell commended the students for showing exceptional teamwork.

“Throughout the day students were able to experience nature first-hand, and to place the experience into context around topics discussed in class - such as the impacts of altitude, deforestation, the water cycle and the changing nature of flora and fauna.”

Well done students and teachers for embracing the QHS Learning Disposition of ‘Taking Risks’ and stepping outside to consolidate your learning in the natural environment.
