JOURNEY TO THE PILLIGA

school

QHS students, teachers and staff recently made the journey to the Pilliga to experience the Sandstone Caves and walk the tracks where much evidence of ancient connection exists on the land today.

‘Awakening your senses and embracing the land in all forms’ was the theme for this adventurous road trip.

“Students were overwhelmed with earths creation when they spent time exploring and climbing through the sandstone caves,” said QHS ACLO MegO.

This opportunity to to experience the traditional ‘Country of the Gamilaroi People’ enabled students to experience learning through their own senses creating long-lasting excitement and wonder.

Being present ‘On Country’ is a powerful movement offered by QHS and encourages the connection to form naturally.

“Discovering Aboriginal history not too far from home also inspires our students to see more of our beautiful country,” concluded MegO.

Well done all.
