QHS Year 7 music students in Mr Turner’s class have been focussed on their ‘Composition’ Assessment Task.
Students composed their own 16-bar chord progression from a list of seven provided chords.
“Following the chord progression, the students composed an original Chord-Tone melody. The melody is to tell a story, so the students have to experiment with the different rhythmic notes and chord-tones within each bar.”
Under the guidance of Mr Turner, students are using ‘Flat.io’ software to create their own sheet music.
This user-friendly music composition software offers students the tools to make and create their own sheet music.
“The notation software that they were using allows for the students to be creative with composing and arrange different music elements to achieve their story.”
Once the students have finished their original Chord-Tone melody, they will then learn to play the melody on an instrument and perform the melody to their fellow students.
