ASCA AWARDS SYDNEY

ASCA AWARDS CEREMONY

The Australian Speech Communication Association main syllabus is a finely graded series of examinations which promotes and assists in the development of oral communication and listening skills in educational, professional and social spheres.

On Saturday 16 March 2019 QHS students attended the ASCA Awards Ceremony at Ravenswood School for Girls - Gordon NSW.

Guest Speaker at the event was Eleanor Jones - a High Court barrister and former ASCA participant, who spoke about the benefits of being able to communicate effectively.

She also spoke on how her involvement in the ASCA program helped in her chosen career and gave her life-long skills.

QHS students at the awards at the ceremony included:

Josephine Saunders was awarded her Diploma of Communication and she also received the Centre Medal and Certificate.

Molly Owen, Indiah Nean and Lia Robertson were awarded the Studio Achievement Medal and Certificate

Students who didn't attend the awards day but also achieved medals were:

James Redgrove - Centre Medal

Emily Cronin - Studio Award

There were also nine performances at the ceremony, where outstanding students were preselected to showcase their ASCA Presentations.

QHS students Molly Owen and Indiah Nean were chosen to perform their joint musical theatre piece from 2018, "It's a hard knock life" from the musical Annie.

Special mention must also go to Bella Pollard, QHS Year 7 student who performed her monologue from her 2018 ASCA Exams.

All students performed exceptionally and were a credit to the ASCA program and to QHS and are to be congratulated on their outstanding participation in the ASCA program offered at QHS - the only high school in the region that offers this fantastic program to students.

Thank you to Mrs Owen for the photos and editorial outline of the event.
