LEARNING THROUGH IMMERSION

learn

Did you know… Biomes are a large naturally occurring community of flora and fauna occupying a major habitat, such as a forest or the tundra.

QHS Geography students are currently studying a topic on Biomes, related to different environments.

What better way to study about the environment than getting out of the traditional classroom and into the environment.

This is exactly what Practicum student Pearl Harbour did with the Year 9 class she is instructing at the moment.

On a walk around Quirindi, Ms Harbour noticed all of the information boards placed along the walking track beside the creek, and that these boards had information relating to the local plants and animals in the vicinity.

So, she designed a unique learning experience associated with the boards that the students could use to help their understanding of the importance of Biomes.

The students enjoyed learning about the environment through immersion in it.
