CSU - https://study.csu.edu.au/study-options/pathways

UoN -  https://www.newcastle.edu.au/study/undergraduate/getting-in/entry-schemes

Mason from CSU discussed the different costs involved in University both deferrable such as; HECS and Tuition,  and Non-deferrable: text books, accommodation, food, transport etc.

Also the different ways we can utilise to fund University life - Centrelink, job, parents, previous work, holiday employment, all students were encouraged to apply for scholarships as University’s offer so many for regional students.

ACCOMMODATION

Aurora and Elizabeth from UNE spoke about Accommodation options including; on-campus, off campus and living at home.

The benefits of on-campus are: support, community, regional, academic groups, resources are a short walk, study rooms, all utilities are in a bundle, meals, or cook alone, college atmosphere and clubs

Off-campus offers more independence where family and friends offer a great support network.

Every student has different requirements when it comes to accommodation and individual circumstances - what you’re looking for should be feeling safe, happy and comfortable.

Current 2nd Year Nursing student, Jess, from Charles Sturt University was honest about managing Uni student’s academic and social life. Most importantly, your attendance, if you don’t show up, that’s on you.  You are an adult and it’s your responsibility to attend lectures, tutorials and practicums and familiarise your timetable.

Her advice as a student was to –“Take every opportunity and say yes! Find the balance between study social life, and, Research your pathway options.”

Thank you to the University Roadshow for allowing students the opportunity to personalise their University Pathways further.
