There is a buzz at QHS today as nearly 60, Year 6 students from public schools across the are undertake their Orientation Day.
Students and their parents/carers were met by QHS staff and a “Welcome to Country’ was offered by Quirindi Public School Year 6 Student, Raynor Turner.
QHS Year 7 2023 Advisor, Mr Turner welcomed his future students and attending parents and carers.
‘It’s great to see you here today, I will be your Year Advisor from Year 7 all the way through school, and I look forward to getting to know you all and being there to assist you.”
Principal Worley offer his welcome and items discussed included:
*QHS partnership with the local council giving all QHS commencing QHS from the first day of school in 2023 Free access to both the Quirindi and Wertis Creek public swimming pools.
*’Back to Business’ vouchers for students commencing 2023, the school is currently in the process of organising to be able to accept these vouchers for students to purchase school uniforms.
*Book Packs, students commencing Year 7 in 2023 were today given book packs (valued at $90.00) by QHS – these packs include all the notebooks, pencils and pens students require to commence school - students will still have to purchase their own math approved school calculator
Deputy Principal, Miss Loughrey spoke on the School Procedures including Merit/Demerit System, Bus Lines, Communications, Uniform and offered an introduction to key staff. She also covered - Communication including (roll call / late to school processes, absence / sick processes, contacting the school, permission notes, leave passes, uniform notes, general permission notes, change of address or medication / health issues).
As well as the above, Principal Worley, covered what students can expect at the Year 7 2023 Bonding Excursion and extracurricular opportunities available to students.
Parents and carers had a chance to talk to both the Principal and the Deputy before Mr Turner and Orientation Day students collaborated on a ‘Letter to your future self’ and parents had a chance to get to the canteen to purchase uniforms.
Students are currently undertaking a small tour of the school with their Year 10 Buddies and will break for lunch and then have afternoon activities in the hall before being able to head home at 3.15pm
Students can purchase school uniforms on the first days of term 1 2023 being January 30 and 31st.
