CONSTRUCTION INDUSTRY VISIT

QHS students and Carers Advisor, Ms Saunders journeyed to Tamworth for some intensive construction industry visits recently.

The excursion visited three sites, including: GJ Gardner Homes, Apollo Engineering and Kareela Constructions.

GJ Gardner Homes, are local home builders in Tamworth.

“GJ Gardner offer a range of choices from customer builds to house and land packages with dozens of designs available. It was enriching for students to see the scale and professionalism on offer through this business, “said Careers Advisor, Ms Saunders.

Apollo Engineering, which features an advanced precision manufacturing workshop located in Tamworth, focusses on efficiency through innovation, automation and training.

“Their high-volume production workshop is automated through the use of collaborative robotics, and includes Computerized Numerical Control machining, Computerized Numerical Control

 Folding and the latest in laser cutting technology.

“Students really engaged with the level of technology utilised and the products produced at Apollo Engineering,” continued Ms Saunders.

Kareela Constructions facilitated a site visit for QHS, showing the students around their project, along with offering relevant and valuable info about the construction industry.

“Craig Martin, owner and Apprentice Sam Livingstone from Kareela Constructions in Tamworth NSW met onsite with the students and offered them hands-on experience of the construction industry. The team is well known for their attention to detail and ability to listen to understand as they guide people toward building their dream home. It was fantastic for students to get on-site and QHS greatly appreciate the opportunity,” said Careers Advisor, Ms Saunders, who continued… “We would like to thank all the industry experts who so very generously gave their knowledge and welcomed us into their industry and businesses, it was an invaluable experience for our students and we would like to thank them for fitting us in so promptly.”
