HISTORY TO DEVOUR

school

Mrs Valentines Year 12 Ancient History class immersed themselves into the delicacies of ancient times.

Calling on the recipes of ancient Greece and Rome as complied by the Sally Grainger and Andrew Dalby, students chose to make a Chicken salad and Fish Cakes.

Students explored: how historical sources are used in the reconstruction of history and how the daily life of classical Greece and Rome - although separated from us by over 2000 years, can be recreated in almost graphic detail, thanks to wall painting, scrolls, paintings, mosaics and even graffiti remaining.

Artefacts allow historians to see the daily lives of the ancients and some of the greatest writings of the classical world were copied by scribes to become models of vivid narrative for modern authors.

What a fantastic way for students to immerse themselves in the times and experiences of their studies, thanks Mrs Valentine for thinking out-side the box and well done students for trying new things from ancient times.
