CAPTAINS NOMINATIONS

school

QHS has called for nominations from Year 11 students for 2024 School Captains and for House Captains (Sport).

Year 11 students can nominate for either School Captain or House Captain, they can NOT nominate for both positions.

Mr Hamilton has already handed out nomination forms to students - any students wanting a form can collect one from his office in the HSIE Department.

Nominations close in Week 5 Term 3 – all applications MUST be in before the closing date.

If a nomination is accepted, students will attend an interview with the Principal.

Students must have their speech written for this interview. It is to be a maximum of 3 minutes. The principal will approve the speech as part of the interview process.

Each nominee will be asked to address an assembly / or present a recorded speech prior to the election. Failure to do this will mean the nomination is cancelled.

The 4 students with the most votes, on a 1-2 preferential voting system, will be declared captains.

SCHOOL CAPTAINS

Quirindi High School takes pride in our student leadership team… School Captains.

These outstanding individuals are chosen for their dedication to the school's values and goals and their ability to lead by example.

With four distinct portfolios, QHS Captains play a crucial role in shaping the school community and making a positive impact.

The ‘Community’ Portfolio involves organising and participating in community events, engaging with local organisations and dignitaries, and coordinating school activities like ANZAC Day and National Reconciliation Week.

The ‘Communication’ Portfolio focuses on connecting the school and the wider community. Captains in this role run assemblies, deliver speeches, and contribute to the school newsletter and social media outreach.

The ‘Student Voice’ Portfolio champions students' needs by gathering feedback through surveys and discussions. They present this valuable information to the principal and external groups, ensuring the student body's voice is heard.

The ‘Environment’ Portfolio emphasises environmental conservation and sustainability. Captains here initiate eco-friendly initiatives and collaborate with the school community on projects that positively impact the environment.

The allocation of portfolios is based on each Captain's strengths and interests.

These student leaders exemplify the spirit of Quirindi High School, inspiring others to contribute meaningfully to their community.

HOUSE CAPTAINS

QHS House Captains are important for their leadership qualities and commitment to the school's values.

House Captains have vital responsibilities, including coordinating sports events, representing the school in community activities, and forwarding motions to the P&C on behalf of the students.

They serve as exemplary role models, adhering to school rules and wearing the correct uniform. The House Captains' passion and dedication inspire a strong sense of community and school spirit.

As we await the results, we look forward to the emergence of exceptional leaders who will continue to uphold the QHS legacy of excellence.

Thank you to Mr Hamilton for coordinating this important part of our school and school community.
